Concentration Camp Memorial Flossenbürg – WHAT REMAINS
Segment of postwar history, Permanent Exhibition, 2010

The new part of the exhibition gives the postwar history of the camp a broader context. The installation seeks new ways of teaching history while leaving the existing visual canon of German memorial landscape intact. The spatial matrix follows the four major themes: the place, the memories, the survivors and the perpetrators. The exhibition experience is focused on a few strong impressions, which is why the exhibition architecture structures the content into 3 modules, each producing strong images.

The Jury praised: »… the outstanding way in which it presents the values that underpin the civilization of the “West” and challenges us to rethink our collective future, and our concepts of democracy, solidarity, justice, peace and freedom.«
