State Museum Württemberg Stuttgart‚ Treasures of the Ancient Syria
Great National Exhibition, 2009

The discovery of the intact ancient Syriac palace of Qatna, free of grave-robbing, is the core sensation of the Great National Exhibition. The theme develops along the lines of synthetic drama and is the default for it’s spatial and content structure: Introduction, Rise, climax, decline, disaster. The idea reveals itself in stages. As with a classic drama, it builds each new event based on previous ones. The tour will start at the outside in, from light to dark, from the vastness of the narrowness into the grave chamber. The aim is to present the context of action, time and place.
